There are few things as alluring as a juicy burger right off the grill. A good quality patty, still juicy with a nice charred flavor, gently placed on a bed of fresh lettuce leaves, tomato and onion slices; topped up with sweated mushrooms and crispy flavourful veal bacon and sliced jalapeno (to spice it up) between a freshly baked bun, spread with a tomato-onion jam to give it a juicier moist texture when you dig your teeth within. Oh! And the sharp, piquant provolone cheese paired beautifully with the rich beef. Well, seasoned fries almost Belgian style and crispy onion rings made it a meal to remember.
Literally, my first reaction was “Wooooo” with my eyes open wide … I couldn’t resist myself to reach my phone and click some instagrammable shots! The ribeye steak attached with a long rib bone almost reminded me of a steak Fred Flintstone used to carry in his hand and devour, which of course looked delicious even as a cartoon. The steak was genuinely juicy, tender and seasoned to perfection so I could enjoy the natural flavor of the meat. It came along with fries and meat jus which was tasty as I dipped this gorgeous piece of meat in it before hovering it towards my mouth. Had to remind myself about the chilled pint frequently.
One sunny afternoon, while my colleague and I had some time to grab lunch, we explored Pappagallo, a gem of a restaurant at Le Meridien. I decided to order something that would keep me stuffed for a good 3- 4 hours; something meaty, heavy and delicious. Agnello sounded just right! It’s enticing appearance enchanted me the moment it sat on my table. The meat was tender, juicy and had absorbed all the flavours from the sauce, which was truly aromatic; infused with rosemary, butter, celery and carrots (nicely sweet) all neatly laying on a bed of creamy mashed potatoes.
